Thicker reedplates = louder?

So, based on what I'm reading from you folks, it takes a doubling of reedplate thickness 
to make a perceptible difference, and 1.25mm as opposed to 1.2mm reedplates (as on 
the various Hering 48s) isn't in itself going to make much odds?
